Challenge Accepted Game -- What do you want IVI to print? You name it, we print it

@Helen I have a few questions.
–Looking through the comments so far, I see some submissions that consist of one model to print, and some that are made up of multiple parts. Are there any limits to parts count?
–Is this thread the official location where we’ll make our submissions? Or will there be a dedicated thread each week?
–Can we make suggestions for filaments?

Thanks!

One of the first things that I will print is this figure that I designed using HeroForge. I’d like to see how he would look on the IVI by someone who knows what they are doing

Very cool, that is my design! I was just coming here to post it!

I would like to see IVI print this Stitch character. There are some great fine details, a chance to see the smoothness of prints, as well as seeing how IVI handles the overhangs of his mouth. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2419427/makes

I would love to see how the IVI handles making an action figure, like this Iron Giant one (Made by Nrr1014 at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3272723), especially with the details and the flexibility required to complete the figure!

@BrettJP Thank you for these great questions.

  • There are no limits to the number of parts but all the parts for a whole model need to be able to be printed within 12 hours.
  • There will be a dedicated thread each week.
  • We will announce the type of filament that we are going to test each week, you can then submit the models accordingly.

Oppps!.. wood filled filament - gonna have to reconsider my suggestion!

Helen… your header post does not make this obvious - I had to click on the first post title/link to get to the post that shows the filament type.

Here’s a fine challenge for the IVI 3D Printer… It’s called the DeskOrbe v2.0, and it’s a fully functional mechanical desk toy printed as a working, fully-assembled print piece. I found it on Thingiverse! Created by a new high school graduate, Jose Moreno of Chicago!

I want IVI to print this wood basket plant pot. The model can be downloaded from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:741680/zip. This model is found on https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:741680.

I want to print a 3D model of a Laminar Flow Element, LFE, used in a Thermal Mass Flow Meter used in the semiconductor market that makes the chips that make electronics. A LFE is INSIDE the flow meter and in PARALLEL with a sensor that behaves much like ONE of the LFE channels so that Fluid Mechanics transport properties are kept in the same regime, not MIXING a nozzle with a laminar element as an example…

Grab the Link on my DropBox here:
LFE STL File

The part is a cylinder with a diameter of 0.85" (21.5 mm) and 2" (50.8 mm) long… Those fins are spaced 0.050" (1.27 mm) and the same width. Wizards will know which direction to print this…

This is a TOTALLY GEEKY thing for a COMPLETELY Industrial application, having ZERO value for folks wanting to have it on their living room table UNLESS they too are Geeks, like me, soooooo Guys and Gals… Please HUMOR ME, and let this one be printed so we can ALSO show that the IVI Printer can be used for INDUSTRIAL purposes.

I seek to discover the best filament. Would LOVE it out of Nylon, or PVC, or ABS and perhaps out of Wax and I could cast the part.

Pleeeease vote for this one guys and gals and it will be SUPER for me!

You can see where this is used by looking at my website called TacticalFlowMeter.com
You will see where it is used.

I want to use the 3D Printer to PROTOTYPE various LFE Designs and if this works as well as I think perhaps more folks can use this in their every day jobs.

This is completely my design so there are no copyright issues and ANYONE can play with it!

  1. your contest rules
  2. you can choose any filament you want if you think my filament will not work to get the best results
  3. you can place the model in any way you want

i think i cant make it more easy for the challange.
if i winn you can fix ivi to make it a better printer if you winn ivi will be the best printer ever

so do you think you can win?
Then show it to us.

A Sierpiński triangle - also called the Sierpiński gasket or Sierpiński sieve, is a fractal with the overall shape of an equilateral triangle ,subdivided (recursively) into smaller equilateral triangles. It;'s a very good test for retracting and gaps in an object.

I wonder if your printer can print any thing at all with the Mosaic Palette 2, Here is a link to a video demo of the Mosaic Palette 2 that make it possible to make multi-color prints with any printer. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVYmQlUZfVM
