Progress Update [Late Oct]

Awesome!!! Loving how this is turning out. In stead of removing features, you’re adding :smiley:

Yes, there is a heated bed! My guess is the cables run through the “rib” structure you can see at the back.

YES!!! A textured bed for the 3D printer? :heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes:

Hi Bob, yes, you are right. That’s what are the two hooks for, to lift out the filament.

Yes, the build plate has two different sides. One smooth side and one textured side. This is meant for different filaments.

Dear Daehyuk, the heated bed is below the build plate. They are separate. The wire is not connected yet. There is a wire slot on the column. We will show you with more photos soon.

Is there any sort of new ETA now the problems have been solved? How long will the testing roughly take and when will they be mass manufactured and ready for shipping?

I see two places for filament. Are you planning dual extruders in the future.

That is looķing slick. Awesome work being done!

This. This is how you run a Kickstarter campaign. Very excited for what you choose as a final design.

Good stuff guys and gals!

Hi @lloyd.simmons7, yes, in the future, we plan to release a dual heads module that will be compatible with this version of IVI. At the moment, the other chamber is only for the storage of a spare spool of filament.

@Techdragonz The testing will take about 1 month. After that, we will start trial production with 20 units. A new ETA will be announced after we produced the 20 units. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Thanks for the reply :smiley: Those 20 units, are they the ones that will be shipped to the beta adopters?

Hi @Techdragonz, the 20 units will be used for training the workers on assembly, we will have them tested by professional & non-professional users, maybe send them out to a few interested testers/YouTubers and we are also planning to choose a few beta adopters to test as well. It will be for testing only instead of shipping to them as a final product.

Nice Progress! if you are still looking for people for testing then I would like to help you with that :slight_smile:

Dual Extruder --> Dual Output hotend would be a nice add on and would surely love to have it in the near future.

IDEX (Independant Dual Extruder) is surely something IVI can’t do. But maybe can try research and get ideas from e3d toolchanger OR Ultimaker Dual Extruder design, where 2nd hotend moves up and down to avoid clashing with the model when not in use :slight_smile:

Helen…non-kickstarter backers who are inquiring about delivery timelines have been told March 2020 if they pre-order, with kickstarter orders shipping in January 2020.

Is that (still) an accurate shipping timeline at this point?

Hi Helen,

The new prototypes are looking fantastic, and the new features a great idea I can’t wait to receive my IVI 3D printer.
Are we looking at early 1st quarter of 2020 for shipment for backers?

Regards
Robin

@DonFL @rlb-designs Pre-orders before Oct 31 are estimated to be delivered in March 2020 and pre-orders after that are estimated to be delivered in June 2020. Delivering to Kickstarter backers first is always our top priority.

From where we are standing at the moment, below are the schedule for the coming few months.

  • Assemble & testing of the 4 new prototypes, 1 month – end of Nov (Apply for FCC/CE/RoHS, Start package design);
  • Trial production & testing of 20 units, 1.5 months – early of Jan;
  • Trial production & testing of 100 units, 1.5 months – end of Feb 2020.

We will keep updating this schedule and keep sharing the progress and problems along the way. Thank you very much for your understanding and support.

BTW, this week’s test report will be delayed until next Monday as we are working 7 days to complete the tests.
