You probably have been looking forward to this update since last Friday. In fact, the testing is more time-consuming than we expected. Please check what we have accomplished so far:
1. Rigidity test of the main frame
The rigidity of the main frame is one of the few core parts that will have a direct and obvious impact on print quality. With it been verified, we can be more confident that the overall print quality is guaranteed to reach an average level and we can fine-tune other parts to reach above the average. Also, after its confirmation, we can prepare the mold making of the key components, including the columns and the joint rings. So we sent the printer to a third-party testing organization to be tested. By comparing the deformation of the frame under 15kg loads and zero load, we found that the deformation is close to our theoretical analysis, which means that the main frame passed the rigidity test.

2. Strength and deformation test of the carbon rod
The strength of the carbon rod and its deformation under certain stress is another factor that will affect the FDM, Laser, and CNC functions, with CNC function being the main one as it has a higher requirement for the carbon rod. We tested 6mm, 7mm, 8mm carbon rods, each with 2 types. From the result, we conclude that type A of the 7mm carbon rod is suitable to be used. This is decided by the maximum motion resistance that the print head can withstand. This choice will be verified in the following integrative test again.
3. Magnetic damping ratio test of the magnet steel
To confirm that the cobalt oxide magnetic steel mounted on the PCB heat bed can work well for bonding even after long hours of high-temperature printing, we tested the magnetic steel separately. We tested hardened cobalt oxide magnetic steel, ordinary cobalt oxide magnetic steel, and ordinary magnetic steel. Each group has 10 pieces. Ordinary magnetic steel works as the control group. We tested 3 times at 160°C, each with 8 hours, 14 hours and 10 hours separately. Judging from the result, we are going to use hardened cobalt oxide magnetic steel as its degaussing is not obvious after the test.

Also, from where we are standing at the moment, below are the schedule for the coming few months.
- Assemble & testing of the 4 new prototypes, 1 month – end of Nov (Apply for FCC/CE/RoHS, Start package design);
- Trial production & testing of 20 units, 1.5 months – early of Jan;
- Trial production & testing of 100 units, 1.5 months – end of Feb 2020.
